Basset Hound overview

Originated in France; breed is established in the UK and the USA.
Used originally to hunt hares. Today's Basset is lower to the ground and heavier than its hunting forebears. Friendly and patient, they make good companion even though they can be stubborn at times. Do not need a great amount of exercise.
