Bernese Mountain Dog overview

An ancient breed originating in Switzerland for use as a livestock herder and cart puller. Selective breeding has left a legacy of unreliability and unprovoked aggression in some lines.
Unsuitable for the urban environment or hotter climates. The Bernese prefers to live and sleep outside and prefers the colder weather. Affectionate and sometimes sloppy, they are readily obedience trained but are probably best suited to the experienced owner.
