Dalmatian overview

Although thought to have originated from Dalmatia as the name suggests, there is some evidence that it actually came from India and was brought to ancient Greece by Indian traders.

This dog has served as everything from a retriever and bird dog, to a sheep herder, circus performer and carriage dog. A Dalmatian makes an exuberant, friendly dog that is suitable to the urban environment, is good with children and needs little grooming, but it is not best suited to hotter climates and does require a lot of exercise.
