Manchester Terrier overview

The Manchester Terrier descended from black and tan ratting terriers of 19th century, used in rat pits of that time. When the cropped-ears tradition was banned in the UK in 1898, the breed lost much of its support, but cropping has remained optional in the US. Today's Manchester Terriers may have naturally erect ears, cropped ears or button ears. Typically wary of strangers but a devoted house dog.
