Rhodesian Ridgeback overview

This strong muscular dog is even-tempered but can be aloof with strangers. Generally social with other dogs but can be a handful to train. They were originally used for big game hunting in South Africa. The Rhodesian Ridgeback retains hunting/tracking instincts.

Their ridge is formed by hair along spine and is characteristic but some are born without it. They make excellent guard dogs or watchdogs.
